WHAT IS MOM MISSION?

                                                    MOM(MARS ORBITER MISSION)
MOM is a great mars mission launched by India's space research center, ISRO. MOM is great and low budget and a successful mars mission for ISRO.

ISRO : ISRO is a space research center of India. The full form of ISRO is , Indian Space Research Organisation. ISRO did many mission perfectly. One of the successful missions is MOM mission. The launch pad of ISRO is in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. Many many years ago a space research center named INCOSPAR was established. After that INCOSPAR grew and became ISRO(Indian Space Research Organisation) in 15th August of 1969. ISRO built India's first satellite, Aryabhata. It was named after the mathematician Aryabhatt. After that ISRO placed Rohini in earth orbit. Isro developed many rockets such as - SSLV, PSLV, GSLV. ISRO launched many successful missions such as - Chandrayaan1, MOM(Mars Orbiter Mission), Chandrayaan 2 (partial successful mission.), Rohini etc.

Like Chandrayaan 1, Chandrayaan 2, MOM is also a successfull mission for India. The full name of MOM is Mars Orbiter Mission. Mars Orbiter Mission(MOM) is also called Mangalyaan mission. Mangal is a hindi or sanskrit word, it means mars and yaan means craft or vehicle. Mangalyaan also a successful space mission like Chandrayaan 1. Mangalyaan is a orbiter mission launched by ISRO. Mangalyaan, mars orbiter was launched from ISRO's PSLV rocket.

PSLV : PSLV is a rocket made by ISRO. The full form of PSLV is Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle. It can place upto 1600 kg remote sensing satellites into sun-synchronous orbit and 1050 kg into geostationary transfer orbit. ISRO Built 5 variants Of the PSLV rocket. ISRO built 5 variants of this rocket based on payload capacity. The height of PSLV rocket is 44m and the diameter of PSLV is 2.8 meter. It is a active rocket. The launch site of the rocket is Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. The name of the 5 variants of PSLV is -  PSLV-CA, PSLV-XL, PSLV-DL, PSLV-QL, PSLV-3S.

Mangalyaan was orbiting the mars since 24 September of 2014. MOM was launched on 5th November of 2013 by ISRO. It was India's first interplanetary. Mangalyaan made ISRO the fourth Space Agency to reach of neighbour planet Mars. It was launched from ISRO's PSLV-XL rocket. The power of the spacecraft is about 840 watts. The BOL mass of the space craft is 550 kg and the Dry mass of the spacecraft is 482 kg ans the payload mass is 13.4 kg. Manglayaan contained many instruments like - MCC(Mars Colour Camera), TIS(Thermal Infrared Imaging Spectometer), LAP(Lyman Alfa Photometer), MSM(Methane Sensor for Mars), MENCA(Mars Exopheric Neutral Composition Analyser).

The Mars Orbiter Mission probe lifted-off from Satish dhawan Space centre, Andhra Pradesh.  After launching mangalyaan, It went to space and the boosters were separated and MOM probe started the journey to Mars from our planet Earth. MOM space probe spent about a month in Earth orbit. In the Earth orbit it made seven apogee-raising orbital manoeuvres before Mars Injection. After 298 days, it was put into Mars orbit on 24th September of 2014.

It was a very nice and low budget interplanetary mission to go on the red planet, our neighbour planet mars and to place a orbiter in the Mars orbit.

                   Go ISRO. Best of luck.
